It's often been said that an idea is nothing without the execution to back it up and I have been in plenty of rooms where ideas have been bandied around, but not many where someone actually did something with the idea.
That's why I am always excited when someone takes a concept they have and move it to the next step.
A while back I had a Solving for X class where a young woman named Rachel attended and told me about the fact that she had a blog about her experiences as an actress, but she had a bigger vision for it. In the class, we discussed how powerful it is to be a resource, to consistently give to your network, and to develop systems for bringing people together.
After the class, we met a few more times as she continued to develop the idea for her resource now called The Actors' Embassy.
It's always awesome for me to watch someone nurture an idea and take it to the next level. From those who took PLAE who went on to found businesses, festivals, and become speakers, to those who took Solving for X who went on to create resources like this one.
So you can imagine how honored I was when they asked me to speak at their very first event.
You can find all of the details here.
I will be speaking about the ways we all help one another as artists, networking, and building community. I hope you'll join us.
Who knows maybe an incredible new idea will come out of that meeting.
And wouldn't you want to be there for that?
Excelsior!
P.S. The next Solving for X is coming up the beginning of March. Grab your tickets here!
