So I'm not sure about everyone else, but I get really annoyed when I go to a coffee shop and cannot find a seat.
After being displaced from my usual haunt and forced to deal with the concept of an overcrowded coffee shop, I thought that it would be awesome if I knew ahead of time what places had seats open, that way I didn't waste time ordering coffee and standing waiting for someone to vacate a table.
With this in mind I decided to conduct an experiment to see if it would help to give people a central place to let others know when a place was too damn crowded.
So I created a twitter account: @ISSHereNY It stands for "Is someone sitting here?"
A question I was asked ten times today.
The system is simple.
If you are sitting in a coffee shop and it is crowded, you let your friends know by doing the following "@ISSHereNY This place is packed! No seats and line out the door #starbucks39thand8th
The hashtag is the location so it's searchable and all people need to do to find out if there's room is to follow @ISSHereNY and search for their location.
Now as I mentioned, this is an experiment.
It might work
It might not
But until someone develops a website, this is my only hope.
So give it a whirl and give me your feedback. I'm not a tech guy, I'm just a guy looking for a seat.

Excelsior!
Interesting thought for a crowd-sourced App...
