Being an advocate of Arts education myself, I was thrilled to be contacted by Arts to Grow to take a guest blog spot for this week. If you have not heard of them, check out their post below and then check out the company. They are a great group of people.

Arts to Grow: Fulfilling an Urgent Need in the Community
Arts to Grow:
● Brings free, neighborhood-based enrichment programs to economically-disadvantaged students with little or no access to the arts. Many students who attend ATG partner public schools generally have no certified teaching specialists or formal arts curriculum despite state requirements.
● Gives “at-risk” youth a safe space outside school hours and a rich opportunity to experience personal success despite negative influences such as gangs, substance abuse and crime.
● Fosters strong, influential relationships between students, teaching artists, classroom teachers, program leaders and administrators. These relationships are proven to engage children in learning, to create mentoring relationships that build self confidence and to foster leadership skills.
● Strengthens the connection, commitment and pride youth feel for their local community.
All Arts to Grow classes are taught by professional Teaching Artists – experienced educators who actively practice their art form.
Programs include:
* Musical Theater * Urban Dance * African Arts * Mask Making *
* Improvisation * Painting * Drumming * Classic Plays * Storytelling *
and more!
