I've been saying for a while that the cost of producing keeps increasing and that it's becoming harder and harder for producers to put up a show. For this reason, I've been looking for new collaboration models.
My company is doing a monthly comedy show and we're giving half of the proceeds to theatre companies in need. If you want to be in the mix you can send your company's info to [email protected].
So why in the world would I give away half of what my company is making? Because as a producer, it's important to show the companies around you that you support them and I can think of no better way than giving them money. I hope to see some of the readers of this blog there, since my comment list is a little light. I'd love to hear what you think. Check out the info below and hope to see you there!

"I was in the Wiz in 9th grade. I have also sung songs from the show Wicked alone in my bedroom."- Barry Rothbart
"I don't have much theatrical experience. I played the letter 'X' in "Alphabet Soup" in 2nd grade. I also played "Monkey #2" along with a bunch of Japanese kids and Andrew Walker in "The Man with too Many Hats" in 1st grade. -Taylor Williamson
"I played four characters in the ensemble play "The Dinner People" when I was a senior in high school. Boys and girl roles!" -Jamie Lee

Reasons to come:
1. After the show, you will walk away as new fans of some fantastic
comedians. You will have six new names to google and search on YouTube. That is assuming you are not already familiar with them-- they have been on Conan O'Brien, HBO, Comedy Central, and more!
2. This is a chance to support a good cause. All the money raised
goes toward supporting theatre companies and artists. 50% of the
proceeds goes directly into the Small Pond Friends Fund which goes
directly to the companies and artists who need it to create at a high
quality level. The other half goes toward costs to produce new works by
companies, individual performers, and playwrights. The more we raise,
the more we can support!
3. Are you involved in theatre or comedy? Do you have a solo show,
ensemble piece, script, etc that you would love to develop and see
produced in NYC? Are you interested in the Small Pond Friends Fund?
Come to the show and introduce yourself to the Small Pond Staff! We
would love to meet you and hopefully work with you in the future!
4. $10 is a small price to pay to have a great time. The show is
at a great venue (The Sage Theatre, 7th Ave & 48th St) with a
stellar lineup of comedians. Bring a friend, bring a date, come alone
and meet potential new friends and future dates! (A good sense of humor is sexy).
Thanks in advance for your support. Thanks in advance for buying in advance. See you Tuesday!
Monday is September 22nd, not the 23rd.
