So while I was out of town last week, I did a lot of reading in my travels and each of the books I read were very helpful. I wanted to share those books with you all today. I would argue that each of these books can help you regardless of what profession you're in and that's why I liked them so much. Ok, here we go.
Breakthrough Entrepreneurship- Being an entrepreneur is one of the most amazing and scary experiences I have ever had. There are moments where it feels like everything is going great, and others where it looks like I should find something else to do. This book is ESSENTIAL for anyone who is planning to start their own venture. It doesn't matter if you are thinking of starting a theatre company, production company, cleaning company, etc. The information in this book is down to earth and straightforward. I was constantly having A ha! moments throughout it and I will most likely use it for future classes of mine.
Customer Service: New Rules for a Social Media World- You may have heard of Peter Shankman because of a little project he started called Help a Reporter Out that has been featured on this blog before, but this book is all about how he uses social media to grow his business. It includes tips for putting out fires, building a following, and assembling a social media team. If you are on Twitter and have not read this, you should. The style of the book and the way he presents the information is incredibly laid back and you feel like you're having a chat with one of your buddies instead of being educated, but by the end of the book, you'll be amazed at how much you learn. Definitely worth checking out!
The Power of Full Engagement: Managing Energy, Not Time, isThe Key to High Performance and Personal Renewal- Well the title kinda says it all right? This book is for anyone who is feeling overwhelmed with work. It serves as a reminder that rest is just as important as hustling and gives you a ton of real life examples of people who increased their productivity by adding more balance in their lives. If you feel like you're not getting enough done, be sure to check this one out as well.
Zarrella's Hierarchy of Contagiousness: The Science, Design, and Engineering of Contagious Ideas- Written very much like an academic journal, this book uses actual research to show you how and why certain ideas spread. There are some truly fascinating observations in here as well as some suprising studies of email marketing. It's also a quick read that you can refer back to often.
So there you have it. Four great books for you to check out, but before you go and buy them...
I'm going to give one lucky reader a set of them for FREE. All four books delivered to your door, plus a secret bonus book.
