Gates are our way into a particular industry. They represent a barrier for entry and something we must deal with if we choose to get inside. For that reason, I decided to use the word gate to create my latest mnemonic device. This week I will be going through each of the steps of the G.A.T.E. strategy. When each step is done every day, the possibilities for business growth are limitless. If any one of the steps is used more than the other, it can cause a major case of unbalance in your business.
The G stands for Give
One of the most important things you can do is set aside time everyday to give. Whether it be that you are donating to a charity, providing mentorship, helping facilitate a connection, or just smiling, there is immense power in the giving of gifts.
It's important to note that the best gifts are given with nothing expected in return and the gifts that cause the most powerful reactions are those that come as a surprise. Take a moment today to think about someone in your community who could use a gift and give it to them. You'll find that it strengthens the relationship and that it also gives you a great feeling.
So how does this tie to business?
In my first year, I have found more opportunties when I have been willing to give of myself. Whether it be volunteering my time to speak somewhere or making a connection for someone, any time I have given a gift it has helped build a relationship and relationships are the key to great business.
Tomorrow I'll tell you all about the A.
