When I used to teach, every once in awhile a student would come up to me and say that his group couldn't do their presentation because someone else had the same idea.
My response:
So what.
Entrepreneurs, producers, writers, and artists all over the world are having great ideas every day and odds are someone is doing something similar.
Here's where you find the winners:
The idea is the same but the execution is different.
The idea and the execution is the same, but nobody does it like ________________
The idea is the same, but the population served is in a very tiny niche community making for different styles of execution.
Here's where you find the losers:
The idea is similar so they decide not to do anything and never discover a different execution strategy
The idea and execution are the same, but they are a bootleg version of "that other guy"
The idea is the same, but the execution is applied to the niche before researching the size and scalability of the niche market.
Stop worrying about someone doing something similar to you. If what you have to offer is truly unique it will never be the same as that person. Also, you'd be amazed at how easy it is to make something seem brand new that's actually been around for years. It happens to us on a daily basis.
Example: Adjustment Bureau: Dark City
Nuff' said.
Rough drafts of Why you're starving will be going out shortly to the folks who have signed up for my blueprints.
I am excited to share this with everyone.
Excelsior!
